Learning how to handle money is an important life skill. In class students will participate in a year long unit to help practice this skill. Each week students will receive paychecks and pay rent. They will also have the opportunity to receive bonuses and go shopping. Students will be given a savings account that they can earn interest in.

At the start of the year students will fill out an application. This will serve as a contract and outlines expectations. If expectations are not met students will loose their job and will not be given a new one until jobs change again. In the event that a student loses their job 3 times they will no longer be issued a job and will no longer be part of the classroom economy.

Payment for the jobs varies depending on how much time the job will take the students to accomplish during the week. Paychecks are written weekly by payroll and distributed after receiving my signature. Checks can be cashed during banking hours by the banker. For banking hours check the sign as they may change.
